National Commercial Director

About You

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the ESA Business Lead, the National Commercial Director’s tasks include market development, account management, new product introduction and strategic business planning for DO accounts

  • Engages with dialysis account managers and executives to maximize customer loyalty and build business base for renal portfolio across the U.S. -- accounts to include free-standing dialysis clinics (LDOs, MDOs, IDOs), hospital-based dialysis clinics and CKD offices.

  • Analyse current market opportunities to identify key target accounts, contracting and pull-through strategies

  • Cultivate and maximize strong relationships with key stakeholders including key opinion leaders in the CKD market and key personnel pertaining to new as well as established accounts

  • Support the contracting process

  • Ability to navigate the formulary approval process and other tactics necessary for clinics to initiate administration of Vifor products

  • Coordinate Vifor resources to obtain formulary approval, provide clinical education and staff in-service education when applicable

  • Take a lead role in gaining deep insights about competitor activity and develop and execute winning strategies

  • Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams on solving operational challenges, particularly as they relate to customer real world experience

  • Identify and strategize activities needed to bridge the opportunity from existing marketed products to newly approved products

Tasks:

Develop Your Market

  • Call on and engage with DO leadership and their staff as well as other clinical decision makers to promote portfolio of company products

  • Sell the benefits of company products to all key customers including physicians, nurses, renal dieticians, pharmacists, hospitals, and others as assigned

  • Demonstrate advanced and articulate product knowledge of company products, competitive products, and dialysis operations

  • Establish positive and productive relationships among marketplace networks within the territory

Excel at Business Practices

  • Analyse sales performance and adjust business plan and approach accordingly

  • Maintain up-to-date call records for all field contacts; submit reports and paperwork accurately and on time

  • Represent a positive and professional image of the company externally and internally

Qualifications:

The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of this position are typically acquired through the following combination of education, experience and knowledge, or the equivalent:

Minimum Requirements

15+ years of renal pharmaceutical sales experience; experience with and deep understanding of dialysis market dynamics

  • Track record of success working independently and remotely

  • Experience with managing complex renal accounts, especially those with high profile stakeholders and demanding expectations

  • Many years of developing clear winning commercial strategies based on deep customer insights in the dialysis market, and execution of tactical plans to establish loyalty and stability in customer base

  • Ability to gain credibility with and form partnerships with a variety of internal matrix colleagues

  • Strong analytical and strategic skills

  • Capacity to understand and effectively communicate complex clinical information when appropriate

  • Acute understanding of U.S. pharmaceutical compliance rules to ensure interactions with customers meet the highest standards

  • The ability and willingness to travel significantly throughout the U.S. and to headquarters in Switzerland as needed
