About You

Vifor Pharma a world leading Nephrology, Iron Deficiency and Cardio-Renal pharmaceutical company are experiencing rapid growth due to pipeline realization and optimization. To support our latest Rare Disease Launch and pre-launch activities for future Rare disease medicines in the United Kingdom we are at this time seeking a Medical Advisor for Rare Diseases to act as a final signatory. 

You will have signatory status or be eligible to do so (MD, Pharmacist) and have demonstrable experience in Medical Affairs gained in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization. On offer is an opportunity not just for signatory activities but also involvement in strategic medical affairs planning and tactics, investigator-initiated studies and compassionate use programs.

Key Measures of Success 

  • Quality, consistency and effective management of medical activities delivered through the Medical team
  • Effective engagement and aligned collaboration with other functions and stakeholders  
  • Knowledge and interpretation of the ABPI Code of Practice as demonstrated in role as final signatory 
  • Delivery on medical KPIs for evidence generation, medical education and insight generation activities 
  • Quality of Medical Education activities delivered by the team, knowledge and expertise provided to external and internal stakeholders
  • Contribution to the quality of Field Medical interactions and effectiveness of KOL engagement
  • Quality of presentations, education and training delivered
  • Contribution to culture of quality improvement and inspection readiness of Medical Affairs activities; results of external and internal quality audits
  • Ability to deputise for Medical Lead as may be required

Responsibilities 
  • Achieves high ethical standards in the development and delivery of relevant materials and activities, by ensuring compliance with the ABPI and IPHA Codes of Practice
  • Act as a medical resource for the Company, working cross-functionally to support company strategies 
  • Represent medical affairs externally, maintaining peer level relationships with HCPs as necessary to meet company’s educational, insight and evidence generation needs, including at international scientific meetings
  • Provides Medical affairs resource for field-based activities, as may be required in support of business needs 
  • Development and maintenance of own medical and scientific knowledge
  • Adherence to own professional Codes of Practice and engagement with GMC revalidation processes 
  • Consistent demonstration of Vifor Values

Tasks and Activities 

  • Develop and maintain scientific and medical expertise (for relevant therapy areas and products) 
  • Provide support for Investigator Initiated Studies
  • Contribute to the management of company sponsored Phase IV studies
  • Contribute to the management of publication plans
  • Provide medical input into content development and outputs for medical and marketing/brand materials and activities 
  • Provide therapeutic area expertise and clinical perspective for the UK/IE organization
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders 
  • Contribute to the execution of specific projects and duties, as required by Medical team’s needs
  • Provide support to the Medical Information and Drug Safety departments

Minimum Requirements
  • Qualified, GMC registered physician or Pharmacist (GPC) who can act as final signatory
  • Significant clinical patient contact and Pharmaceutical Industry experience
  • ABPI code final signatory status

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience in working as part of Medical Affairs team
  • Understanding of Pharmacovigilance systems and the regulatory environment.. 
  • Experience in the management of clinical trials.
