About You

Vifor Pharma a world leading Nephrology, Iron Deficiency and Cardio-Renal pharmaceutical company are experiencing rapid growth due to pipeline realization and optimization. Due to impending launch of our latest Nephrology product across Europe we look to appoint a Senior Medical Manager within Global Medical Affairs in our HQ in Glattbrugg. 

You will be a seasoned Medical Affairs professional operating at the Global or Local level in Europe and have experience with shaping medical plans and tactics, ideally working cross functionally with global brand teams and internationally with local EU affiliate medical colleagues. On offer is an opportunity to be part of an EU wide launch for a specialist product which will bring significant life-improving treatment for an unmet need. 

Accountabilities 
  • Input into the development and execution of the Global Brand Medical Plan and Global Brand Publication Plan
  • Delivery of medical and scientific materials and programs, such as scientific symposia and advisory boards
  • Supporting the implementation of Medical societies and KOL engagement strategies  
  • Be up-to-date on relevant publications for Vifor products and within the therapeutic area (TA) 
  • Medical input to marketing materials and programs, including review and approval
  • Supporting Early Access Programs, RWE data generation and patient advocacy 


Key Measures of Success 
  • Creating awareness about Brand and disease management (number of publications, congresses, symposia, events)
  • Strong KOLs advocacy and strong networks with Medical Societies (AdBoards, Meetings etc)
  • Strong medical data set supporting brand positioning and messaging
  • Quality, consistency and effectiveness of communication to medical audience 
  • Strong execution of medical education activities

Tasks 

  • Develops high-quality content for medical communication and materials according to Global Brand Plan and in accordance with national and global legal regulations
  • Leads the development, coordination and execution of medical education strategies such as symposia and speakers programs, including agenda development, review of content, slide review and speaker management
  • Develops medical and scientific presentations and training materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the Global Brand Publication Plan by working with external authors and thought leaders on abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, review articles and slide decks. 
  • Conducts literature searches and interprets scientific literature for internal stakeholders, including competitor assessment
  • Manages the review and approval process of Medical deliverables
  • Supports Marketing by providing scientific input and expertise in the development of Marketing deliverables and contributes to the review and approval 
  • Supports the Global Brand Medical Lead with the development and implementation of the global KOL plans, achieving sustainable interaction with global KOLs and other important external audience in close cooperation with regional and local medical teams
  • Establishes and manages global advisory boards 
  • Manages advocacy groups and medical societies aligned with global Medical strategy 
  • Participates in and contributes to medical trainings of global, regional and local medical and marketing team members

Minimum Requirements
  • Scientific (Ph.D., Pharm. D.) or Medical education (M.D.)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development 
  • Demonstrated availability to accurately and effectively evaluate medical scientific literature. 
  • Experience with educational programs and communication tools
  • Knowledge of study design and conduct
  • Proven relationship building skills with key opinion leaders
  • Basic understanding of medical aspects of therapeutic area along with willingness to develop in-depth expertise
  • Professional level in English, both in oral and in written communications
  • Excellent user of Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Requirements

  • At least 7 years industry experience including Medical Affairs at affiliate as well as at regional or global HQ level 
  • Experience with regulatory, safety and legal implications of Medical Affairs activities
  • Medical experience in brand/ assigned therapeutic areas 
  • Track record of scientific and medical publications 
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and teams
  • Fluent in other language(s), e.g. German, French or Spanish
